Our most recent graduate survey revealed that more than seven out of ten of our graduates are going into direct employment. And most of the rest go on to further study and research.”This week will see the conferring ceremony of the first cohort of teachers to finish the Professional Diploma in Mathematics through the National Centre for Excellence in Maths and Science Teaching and Learning (NCE-MSTL) at UL. This special Conferring Ceremony, which is individual to this programme will take place on Saturday January 24.There are a number of other firsts among the graduates this week, the first cohort of international students to complete the MSc Nursing Studies will be conferred with their degrees, as well as the first class to graduate from the Master of Arts in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages. In total, 1831 graduates will receive awards from UL in a range of disciplines including: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Business, Education and Health Sciences, Engineering and Science. Some 183 international students are among this week’s graduates hailing from 20 countries worldwide. In addition, 74 PhDs will also be awarded as part of UL’s commitment to fourth level education in Ireland.Meanwhile, the university announced that there would be an “unavoidable delay in releasing grades”, which are now due to be released to students online on February 5.Following ratification of results by the University’s Academic Council Grading Committee, final results and progression decisions will be published online on February 12.UL has insisted that “no student will be disadvantaged or impeded in relation to their current studies or progression activities” as a result of the delay.According to a UL spokesperson: “The university is currently engaged in a review of its student information systems to ensure that existing systems are compatible with Irish and international best practice. An internal review is being complemented by external experts who have been commissioned to assess UL’s practices and to identify any issues that may arise and propose recommendations for future actions.”“As the current review has not been completed it was decided to add an additional series of checks for student grades before they were released. These checks required a change in the grade release schedule.” WhatsApp Limerick Artist ‘Willzee’ releases new Music Video – “A Dream of Peace” Limerick’s National Camogie League double header to be streamed live Limerick Ladies National Football League opener to be streamed livelast_img read more

Jack White Personally Restored A Couch That Bob Dylan & Johnny Cash Once Sat On

first_imgWhen you need a couch restored, you call an upholstery business. When you’re the famous Sam Phillips Recording, and that couch once held the butts of legends like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash and more, then you call Third Man Upholstery.Okay, let’s back track a bit here. Many fans of Jack White know that he worked in upholstery as a teenager, even famously hiding records in a handful of furniture items around the Detroit area. What the may not know is that White’s Third Man Records company has its own upholstery division, which is fully functional though presumably not a focus of the Third Man enterprise.White recently teamed with the famed Sun Records label, which notably discovered artists like Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and more, on a massive project to release selections from the Sun Records catalog on high quality LPs. Logically speaking, if Sam Phillips’ family called Jack White to restore their old recordings, then it would only make sense for White to restore their old couch too. Apparently, according to Rolling Stone, White personally took the job of restoring the couch, choosing the new fabric and color scheme of the historic furniture. And that’s how Jack White came to restore a couch that Bob Dylan and Johnny Cash once sat on.last_img read more

Gerrit Cole celebrates $324 million deal by showing off his 2001 ‘Yankees Forever’ sign

first_img SUBSCRIBE TO US New York Yankees broke the bank to land Cole, who despite being brought up in California, has been a ‘Yankees forever’ since childhood. Then aged 11, Cole was famously captured with a ‘Yankee fan today tomorrow and forever’ sign in 2001 at one of the New York Yankees World Series games. The picture resurfaced after Cole’s trade to the New York Yankees and the debate intensified when the pitcher brought the sign along during his Yankees unveiling. Fans are curious to know whether it is the same infamous sign from 2001 or was the sign re-created for the unveiling. Also Read: MLB’s $324 Million Star Gerrit Cole Displays Nostalgic Childhood Sign At Yankees UnveilingGerrit Cole shows why he is a ‘Yankee forever’It is prudent to note that Gerrit Cole’s signboard in 2001 had the font in blue, while the text on the signboard during his unveiling was a shade of yellow. It’s fair to say that the sign could have faded over time and hence there’s a change in the colour. Multiple sources confirm that Gerrit Cole did carry the same Yankees forever signboard of 2001, and it faded over time as it was on his wall for some time. Clearly, Gerrit Cole is true to his word and him preserving his 2001 signboard is a testament to the fact that he is a Yankee today, tomorrow and forever! Also Read: MLB: Gio Gonzalez Adds To Chicago White Sox’s Rotation After Signing $5 Million Deal LIVE TV Written By WATCH US LIVE Also Read: MLB’s London Series Games Between Yankees And Red Sox Raised Around £37m In City’s Economy Last Updated: 2nd January, 2020 23:25 IST Gerrit Cole Celebrates $324 Million Deal By Showing Off His 2001 ‘Yankees Forever’ Sign Gerrit Cole grabbed headlines when he made a record-breaking move to the Yankees. NHL playoffs 2019: Maple Leafs must end 68-year drought to top Bruins in Game 7

first_img#LeafsForever haven’t won 3 road games in a single playoff series since the 1951 Stanley Cup Semi-Final at Boston— Sportsnet Stats (@SNstats) April 21, 2019″I’m not a big believer of living in the past,” Babcock said of the Maple Leafs’ historical postseason struggles against the Bruins. “I don’t carry a lot of stuff around from the past at all. The bottom line is we’ve got a one-game series against these guys and we like each other, we like our group, we like hanging around together, we want to be together.”The Maple Leafs will need more than a scorching hot Auston Matthews — who has five goals in the last five games — to advance to the second for the first time since 2004. Despite Sunday’s setback, Babcock is confident his team can end that drought too.”We’ve got a good group that enjoys being together and plans on having a good run,” Babcock added. “In order to do that, we’ve got to go into Boston and win a game.” NHL PLAYOFFS 2019: Frederik Andersen keeps Leafs in game with unbelievable glove saveHistory dictates that the Maple Leafs will have a tough time securing a series-clinching win on Tuesday at TD Garden. In addition to last season, the Bruins also eliminated the Maple Leafs from the 2013 Stanley Cup playoffs following an intense seven-game series. Toronto has not defeated Boston in a playoff series since 1959, which was also a seven-game set. In order to advance to the next round, the Maple Leafs will need to win three postseason road games in a single series for the first time since — you guessed it — the Bruins in the 1951 Stanley Cup semifinals. For the second straight year, the Maple Leafs will travel to Boston with their season on the line. The Bruins’ 4-2 win in Game 6 on Sunday afternoon served as a reminder of Toronto’s abrupt postseason exit one year ago. Boston handed Toronto a 7-4 loss in Game 7 last season, a series the Bruins led 3-1 at one point. This time around, the Maple Leafs could not capitalize on the first of two opportunities to eliminate its Eastern Conference foe.last_img read more

Free Talent Release Form for Film and Video Productions

first_imgProtect your production – and yourself – with this free talent release form.Whether you are working on a crew of two or a crew of fifty-two, a talent release form is vital. In short, a talent release form gives you the right to distribute a film with an actor’s likeness. Without a talent release form your production could be at a legal risk and you could potentially get sued! By using the free talent release form below, you can protect yourself and your production company from any confusion that may arise regarding your right as a filmmaker to distribute content. What is a talent release form?A talent release form is a document that gives you (the filmmaker) permission to distribute and sell your video or film with the permission of your talent. The form protects you from your talent getting cold feet after the production has wrapped. When is a talent release form used?A talent release form is used anytime you have talent in front of a camera, especially if you are looking to distribute a film. In some journalistic situations, simply having your talent say “I give ____ permission to air this interview” is enough, but in the case of narrative films or large productions, a physical form is vital. If you plan on getting your film distributed, a distributor will always ask for copies of your talent release forms. If you don’t have them, you will have to go back and get all of your actors and extras to sign a copy after the fact. For this reason, it’s best to get your actors to sign the talent release form before you begin shooting. How is a talent release form used?A talent release form is incredibly straight forward. Simply fill out the respective fields and note the location of signing. If your talent is under the age of 18, you must get the parent or legal guardian to sign the form as well. This specific talent and release form covers not only production, but also marketing related materials. After the talent release form is signed, it’s advised that you to make a copy for yourself and a copy for the actor. It also couldn’t hurt to scan the signed document into a computer. Here’s what the talent release form looks like: While the wording in this form does allow you to use the talent release form for ‘gotcha’ style journalism, it’s best advised to consult a legal professional before distributing content that may be viewed as defamation. You can download the free talent release form by clicking the text below. There are two templates included in the download: One to fill out by hand and another to fill out on a computer. You can use Preview on a Mac or Adobe Acrobat on a PC to edit the computer template.DOWNLOAD FREE TALENT RELEASE FORMInterested in learning more about working with actors/talent? This is very unfortunate. Like the others, we will also have to go through the legal process to establish our citizenship,” he said.Ilias Ali, Congress MLA from Dalgaon, has made it to the NRC but his daughter has not.In southern Assam’s Cachar district, former legislator Ataur Rahman Mazarbhuiya has been excluded from the NRC along with one of his two daughters and son. He had won the Katigorah Assembly seat twice on an AIUDF ticket before moving to the Congress.Mr. Mazarbhuiya’s entire family had figured in the first NRC draft published on December 31, 2018. But four members of his family, including Mr Mazarbhuiya – he had used his own legacy data – were put in the exclusion list published on July 30, 2018. Watch | Assam’s NRC Final List is outcenter_img “We had gone to the NRC service centres for reverification of our documents, and we received the last notice a fortnight ago. The NRC officials had said our papers were valid, and said the mistakes would be rectified. It is surprising that one of daughters is in the NRC and the rest are not,” he told newspersons in Cachar district headquarters Silchar on Saturday. The former MLA said that he would have to face a Foreigners’ Tribunal in which “I don’t have much faith”.Ex-Army officer excludedMohammad Sanaullah, a retired junior commissioned officer of the Army who spent a few days in a detention after being declared a foreigner, has been excluded from the NRC along with his two daughters and son.His wife, however, however has been included in the final list. Also excluded from the list are women from West Bengal married into Hindu Bengali families settled in Panbazar locality – Guwahati’s oldest – for more than 150 years. One of the reasons is believed to have been the failure of the local authorities in West Bengal in verifying their documents in time.Among more than a score of such families is that of Brigadier K.P. Lahiri, who received Veer Chakra for his exploits in the 1965 war and also played a key role in drawing up the strategies during the Bangladesh Liberation War of 1971.Some members of the family of Radha Krishna Saraswati, the first exporter of Assam silk a century ago, are also in the NRC-reject list.last_img read more

Timberwolves spoil Rajon Rondo Lakers return with 120-105 win

(AP Photo/Mark J. Terrill)LOS ANGELES — The Minnesota Timberwolves needed three players to step up when guard Derrick Rose went down injured.Andrew Wiggins, Jerryd Bayless and Jared Terrell all delivered in the absence of Rose, who didn’t play in the second half because of a sore right ankle, and another dominant performance by Karl-Anthony Towns helped the Timberwolves keep rolling.ADVERTISEMENT Oil plant explodes in Pampanga town Grace Poe files bill to protect govt teachers from malicious accusations It was the frontline of Towns and Taj Gibson that put Minnesota ahead with an 11-1 run early in the third quarter. Towns had seven points, including a 3-pointer to push the Timberwolves back in front 69-66 with 7:34 to play in the period. They did not trail again.Gibson had the other four points and finished with 14 points and 10 rebounds.Wiggins was effective in closing out the game with nine points and three assists in the fourth quarter. Terrell scored seven in the period after totaling nine in his first four career games.“Guys banding together all the way, we were great,” Saunders said. “All the way down the line we had great efforts.”Rajon Rondo had 15 points, 13 assists and six rebounds in his first game since injuring a finger on his right hand at Golden State on Christmas, but the Lakers lost their third in a row.ADVERTISEMENT Lacson backs proposal to elect president and vice president in tandem Oil plant explodes in Pampanga town ‘We are too hospitable,’ says Sotto amid SEA Games woes Private companies step in to help SEA Games hosting Brandon Ingram had 20 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 13.Rondo went right to work after missing 14 games because of a sprained finger that required surgery, getting eight points and four rebounds in the first quarter. But Los Angeles centers Ivica Zubac and JaVale McGee had seven of the Lakers’ 20 turnovers, which led to 34 points for the Timberwolves.“It went back to physicality,” Lakers coach Luke Walton said. “They didn’t get turnovers from trying to play-make. They got the ball stripped from them.”SWEET LUOLThe Timberwolves also got an unexpected contribution from Luol Deng, who had seven points and three rebounds in 11 minutes after playing in one game for the Lakers last season. Deng was bought out by Los Angeles in September after signing a four-year, $72 million free agent contract in 2016, but said he was not interested in any personal retribution against his former team.“I tried not to make this me against them,” Deng said. “This was really the Timberwolves coming in here and needing a win. I try to clear my mind from all that. What happened, happened. I’m blessed in so many other ways. I just wanted just to focus on winning the game.”LOST KUZLakers forward Kyle Kuzma couldn’t get on track, finishing with 10 points and failing to make any of his four 3-point attempts. Walton attributed the poor performance to a hip injury. Kuzma said he landed on the hip after making his first shot and hoped that two days of treatment would be enough to allow him to play Sunday against Phoenix.“We’re fighting to be in the playoffs, we’re fighting for seeding and the season is ticking down,” Kuzma said. “Everything has to be serious right now. Every game matters, every possession, every second.” Towns had 27 points and 12 rebounds to propel Minnesota past the Los Angeles Lakers 120-105 on Thursday night.Wiggins added 23 points and Bayless scored 16 off the bench for the Timberwolves, who have won three straight. Terrell, a rookie guard, had 10 points to help make up for the loss of Rose, who had six points in 12 minutes before exiting.FEATURED STORIESSPORTSPrivate companies step in to help SEA Games hostingSPORTSUrgent reply from Philippine ‍football chiefSPORTSWin or don’t eat: the Philippines’ poverty-driven, world-beating pool stars“It was a huge team win,” Wiggins said. “We have a lot of guys out, a lot of guys that (are) hurt, and people came in and stepped up.”Interim coach Ryan Saunders did not know if Rose would be available to play Friday against Utah.
